"A barrel sample of the 2009 Cenit was even more striking. Opulent, powerful yet elegant, and impeccably balanced, this superb offering from a great vintage will raise the bar to unparalleled heights for this region. The importer also presented the entire series of Cenits dating back to the first vintage in 2003 (all of which have been previously reviewed in this journal). Suffice it to say that they are all showing well and continuing to evolve. Drink: 2015-2030."

"Tierra del Vino de Zamora should have been included in the Toro DO but was overlooked when the boundaries were drawn. It is located approximately 40 kilometers south of Toro. Viñas del Cenit has 97 acres of Tempranillo vines, 15% of which are ungrafted and over 100+ years of age."

96-98 Points | Jay Miller | Robert Parker, Wine Advocate | Issue #195 | June 2011

Located in the heart of the historical Tierra del Vino de Zamora, a region that has some of the oldest and most unique vineyards in Spain, Viñas del Cénit has accumulated some of these unique centenary vineyards. The remarkable thing about the vineyards here is the soft sand overlying the red clay. Shoes sink, and it is easy to see why phylloxera never invaded. Viñas del Cénit is a shiny, newish project (2003) making serious modern Tempranillos with ripe alcohol and bold new oak. Cenit is a selection of pre-phyloxeric Tempranillo (known in this región as Tinta Madrid) vineyards that are between 120 and 150 years old. The grapes from these ancient vineyards are characterized by their thick skins that allow to extract a wide array of complex aromas and flavours while giving a high tannic concentration that give Cenit a silky mouthfeel and an exceptionally elegant personality.
